Ziggy and Michael wishing you a Merry Christmas!

The holidays are a time to celebrate with family, including our four-legged family! Many of us include them in our holiday photos, or get them gifts to open alongside the rest of the family. Honoring the number of Santa’s reindeer, we at Companion Veterinary and Mobile center have gathered eight ideas to help you celebrate the holidays with your pets in mind:

Royal Feast

Find a great “pet-friendly” recipe for a special, homemade treat for your four-legged best friend. Perhaps you’ll make your own holiday cookies from scratch for your dog, or a catnip infused cake to give your favorite feline. If you are not into cooking, that is ok! Many pet stores have plenty of Holiday safe treats for your pets available right now!

Their Own Decoration

You can make your own individual stocking for your pet to open for your pet(s) to open on Christmas day! You could can also have their very own special decoration for the tree. Whether it’s store-bought or homemade, give your pet a special spot on the tree for their own, unique ornament!

Extra Playtime

During the holiday rush, with all the hustle and bustle of planning, shopping, traveling, and everything else the season entails, it can be easy to put your pet on the backburner! Make sure you schedule time in your day for your pets, and even give them extra playtime (or cuddle time!) as a special treat!

Give to Other Animals

It is the season of giving after all, and you can honor your pet by giving to other animals in need. During this time you can find many different ways you can help out other dogs and cats to ensure they’ll have a better holiday. Reach out to your local shelter or Rescue or call us for suggestions!

Meet Santa or the Grinch

If your pet has noise or social anxiety or is reactive, it’s best to skip this one. But if you have a well-behaved pet who thrives in loud and busy environments, you may want to consider finding a pet-friendly photo opportunity with Santa or even the Grinch. Many holiday events hosted by local rescue organizations welcome pets, as do some stores and malls!

Christmas Walkies

Take your pet for a walk around the neighborhood to check out the holiday decorations and lights. Allow them to smell about and take in the season's lovely sights and sounds. It's a simple yet delightful way for everyone to celebrate together. Bonus-If your pet likes car rides, take them along to look at Christmas lights!

Have a Holiday Photo Contest

Whether you’re using the “ugly sweater” concept, going after the cuteness effect, or are including your animals within your holiday decor, consider having a photo contest with friends and family. (We also ask if you do, please share those with us on our Facebook!- https://www.facebook.com/CompanionVetCenter)

Have a Pet-friendly Movie Night

Cozy up with your pet and enjoy a pet-friendly Christmas movie. There are many wonderful animal flicks that both of you might enjoy. Don't forget the popcorn and some pet-friendly snacks for yourself! Organizing a movie night with your pet not only improves your relationship but also provides a unique sort of entertainment that both people and animals can enjoy. So grab a comfy blanket, and your furry friend and enjoy a night in together!

We hope you enjoy these ideas, and we at Companion Mobile Veterinary Center wish you all the happiest of holidays!
